Helping the Animals of Japan

Wondering how you can help all the cats and dogs of Japan, donate to the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support organization.

HEART-Tokushima, Animal Friends Niigata and Japan Cat Network have combined forces to focus information, rescue and support for animals in crisis due to the March 11 Earthquake and Tsunami in northern Japan.

Woman discovers her cat survived the Tsunami

While this video is completely in Japanese I think you get the point. A woman is showing a camera crew the destruction the tsunami caused only to find her cat was safe upstairs. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it. All these stories of families who gave up hope that their loved ones had survived, be they cat, dog or human, only to find that they beat the odds . . . it tugs on my heart strings.

It has also been reported that the human and cat residents of Tashiro Island (aka Cat Island) are okay and rescuers are working on getting people and cat food to the residents by helicopter.

Our thoughts are with all the cats, cat owners and other residents of Japan.
