Eating is Sometimes a Competitive Event when You Own a Cat

It isn't often that I have cereal in my house. I get sick of it after about a week. But it is a week for cereal. I went to Target and picked up a box of cereal and a carton of soy milk. I don't like regular milk by itself. It has to be throughly mixed into something. Cereal and milk is just too much of direct contact with the milk, so I buy soy. Even then, I just pour enough soy milk to barely coat each individual flake.

I think Washoo can read English because as soon as I pulled out the containers of soy milk and cereal she started to stalk the room. And after I poured my perfect proportion of soy milk and cereal she positioned herself at the table. I tried to sit down and eat at the dining table like a civilized person. She kept hovering over me and reaching for the bowl. Even after I picked the bowl up and basically held it under my chin she would reach for it with her little paws. Attempts to push her off the table were futile. She would jump right back up. There was no distracting her.

I gave up and stood in the middle of the kitchen to eat my cereal. It was the only way.

I have to admire her tenacity. I let her lick the bowl clean of vanilla flavored soy milk.

The Acro-Cats

The Amazing Acro-Cats of Chicago show sounds absolutely ridiculous... and I think we've got to go. It features the Rock Cats -- which is literally a bunch of cats playing instruments. Because I'm pretty picky about music and can't even stand to go and listen to most small bands play in the city, I'm not sure that this would exactly be music to my ears. Nonetheless, the absurdity of it may be worth the couple bucks I would spend for some ear plugs. I mean, it's cats playing instruments - so cute!

CHIRP Radio is holding a contest now to see the Acro-Cats at the February 6th show at the Viaduct Theater.

You bet I entered it.

Teenage Cat Dream

I hate Katy Perry. I think her sound and look are too plastic. I can appreciate good pop music, but hers is just worthless.

However, exchanging her lyrics for "Meows" is music to my ears.

I think almost any song could be improved upon. Even legends such as Bob Dylan. "Here comes the story of the meow meow meeeooww." Instant classic.

State of the (Cat) Union

Did you watch the State of the Union this week? No? Me either. I wasn't home to curl up with the cats and play the State of the Union Drinking Game. However, there were a few cats that did check it out. See Buzz Feed's collection of cats deeply engrossed in the affairs of our nation.

If I had been there I would imagine that this is about as much attention I would have been able to expect from any of my cats.

No Contest

Cat Off. What is better than a cat? This video would argue nothing.

I would say that there is something better than a cat . . . more cats. I didn't see that battle in there.

Buzz Feed's 30 Most Important Cats of 2010

I know it is a little late, but here is a link to Buzz Feed's 30 most important cats of 2010.

I have to say that this list is pretty comprehensive and very well thought out. There are some list makers that I had never heard of before, but I am new to this field.

Cat Jury Duty

A cat in Boston has been summoned to Jury Duty. Its owners had requested that the cat be disqualified for jury duty on the basis that the cat doesn't understand or speak English. The request was denied. This cat may actually have to serve.

I think that it would be in the best interest of the court to have this cat excused from jury duty. The cat would most likely fall asleep during the case on the witness chair, steal the judge's gavel to play with and knock over the defense's water pitcher.

Thanks to Julie for the tip.

Vanity Cat

The cats have been keeping me pretty busy this holiday season. Being at home more I have been pulled into their sleeping schedule. For instance, I would lay on my couch to watch a movie. Laci would kneed her way into a comfortable position on my chest. With how hot it is in my apartment, the heat from her and the compression of my lungs from her weight would put me to sleep and all of a sudden I would wake up to the DVD menu on loop.

But, I am taking back my life and ready to continue posts.

Today I got an email from a friend suggesting a potential vanity plate if I had a car. The suggestion was "CAT LDY 1." I, however, would prefer "1 CAT LDY," as in the #1 Cat Lady. CAT LDY 1 infers that I am the first of many cat ladies.
